Course tutor: John Nightingale
John joined JCT in January 2008 following 13 years of experience in both local government and traffic signal contracting. With a background in physics and research and development John brings strong analytical skills to JCT. John's introduction to the traffic engineering industry was as a contracting engineer giving him a particular insight in the practical aspects of installation and maintenance of signals. John's tenure in local government has given him experience in a broad range of traffic engineering including accident investigation and road safety audit as well as signals design and modelling. Since joining JCT John has proved himself to be an effective communicator in delivery of lectures on JCT's training courses. John also has an ability to communicate technical ideas demonstrated by his publications in Traffic Engineering Control and Traffic Technology International. Coupled with his studies at the Institute for Transport Studies this spectrum of experience gives John unique perspective on traffic engineering from the point of view of the contractor, local authority, academia and consultancy.
